'Talk Portraiture'
Portrait artists featured at Shuptrine Fine Art & Framing

Mia Bergeron, Dale Crawford, Tom Root, Caroline D'Andrea and other American portrait artists will exhibit at Shuptrine Fine Art & Framing, beginning Thursday.

According to Bonny Shuptrine, vice-president of the gallery, these artists represent several different styles and mediums of portraiture. They offer wonderful options for those interested in portrait commissions.

Ms. D'Andrea, a student at Girls Preparatory School, is the guest artist.

The first open house for the exhibit, which continues through March, will be held Saturday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and the second on Feb. 13 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

On Thursday at 6 p.m., Alan Shuptrine will give a lecture and tour of the Hunter Museum of American Art's galleries concerning how the museum has framed portraits in its collection. Mr. Shuptrine is known for his one-of-a-kind frames that he constructs as owner of Gold Leaf Designs and Shuptrine Fine Art.

On March 13 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Ms. Bergeron will lead a workshop on painting portraits from life. The fee is $150 and the workshop will be held at the gallery, 2646 Broad St.

The gallery is open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Call 266-4453.
