The mirror below was owned by Meredith Miles Marmaduke. Marmaduke made his money blazing the trails to Santa Fe, New Mexico (Santa Fe Trail) in 1828. He was late governor of Missouri, and this mirror was in the Missouri Governor's Mansion in 1842. Marmaduke's son, John Soppington Marmaduke, was a Confederate General in the Civil War and later was Governor of Missouri. The mirror remained in the Marmaduke family until the current owners purchased it several years ago. Before restoration
